What you need
- An Envbay instance (the Starter plan is enough for the Laravel template). How to order is on the pricing page.
- A browser. For the last step VS Code with the “Remote - SSH” extension and an SSH key.
03Guide
Step by step
- 01
Open your instance
Sign in at my.envbay.com, open your instance under “Instances” and have the password shown. Click “Open instance” and sign in as
admin. Then change the start password.https://envoryx.<customer>.envbay.dev - 02
New project
Click “New project” and choose the Laravel template. Give it a name, for example
shop. - 03
Pick the stack
Choose the PHP version, Caddy as the web server and MariaDB as the database. Enable Redis and Mailpit under services.
- 04
Create the project
Click “Create project”. Envoryx pulls the PHP image and runs
composer create-project. In our test this took a little over a minute, and the migrations ran along. - 05
Open the page
Open your project’s address. You see the Laravel start page, over HTTPS with a valid certificate.
https://shop.<customer>.envbay.dev - 06
Check the environment values
The template sets the connection values for the services. With your own repository, check in your
.envthat they read like this:DB_CONNECTION=mysql DB_HOST=database REDIS_HOST=redis MAIL_HOST=mailpit - 07
Test mail
Your application’s mail lands in Mailpit instead of with real recipients. You open Mailpit from the project’s services.

Work in your IDE
- 01
Add your SSH key
In your instance, add your public key under “Settings → SSH keys”. If you have none, create one with
ssh-keygen -t ed25519. - 02
Read the port
Host and port of the SSH gateway are on the service page at my.envbay.com in the “SSH gateway” field.
- 03
Connect
In VS Code choose “Remote-SSH: Connect to Host…” and enter user and host. Then open the folder
/var/www/html, which is your project.shop@ssh.<customer>.envbay.dev
The project must be running for the SSH connection to work. More details and the JetBrains settings are in the manual under “SSH and ports”.
